Artémides Zatti (Italy, 1880 – Argentina, 1951) was a Salesian nurse and priest who for forty years devoted himself to the care of the poor and sick in Viedma, Río Negro. There he directed one of the first hospitals in Argentina Patagonia, which today bears his name.
In 2002 he was declared blessed by the Catholic Church.
On 9 April 2022, the Holy Father Francis authorized to promulgate the Decree concerning the miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Artemide Zatti.
This act of the Holy Father opens the way for the Canonization of Don Zatti.
The Rector Major, Don Ángel Fernández Artime, expressed:
“We are deeply grateful to God and to the Holy Father, Pope Francis. Today, in the Salesian Family, the Church in Argentina, and especially in the diocese of Viedma, in Boretto, in Italy, his birthplace, and in the Diocese of Reggio Emilia there is an atmosphere of great enthusiasm”
